Travels

Instagram has many talented writers from all over the world and my newest friend @Aura_Bennett happens to be one of them. Check out our collab below:

Take me there
Between the carved spaces of places
These pages have to offer.
Away from these mundane surroundings
Reciting tales I've known forever
My soul yearns for more
To be fed the words I read
Sustenance in new horizons, stretching longingly,
Waiting to be discovered
Hidden gems of this
Blue marble in wait to be uncovered.
Sate me in the kiss of morning
Afoot the enduring allure of the Himalayas
Smother me with the garnered culture of India
Allow me to bask in the colors of beauty
Plastered about the cities lost in time
Forever vibrant to the touch
To then unfurl in the blossom of the Amazon
While serenaded between the winding corridors and canals of uncharted depths.

Take me there
Take me to dwell between the blanched snow of Mount Fuji,
leaving mere footprints of the journey to the shades of my existence
Let me be soothed by the cotton waters of Lake Hilliers,
my senses enriched by the smell of colors as rosy as cheeks
Allow me to taste the colors of the rainbow in the Tulip Fields of Netherlands,
awaken my tongue to the variance of their broad being
Permit me to bathe my sight in the vividness of the Cano Cristales River,
open up a new world to me,
arouse my eyes into which world you dwell
I would love to say I'm on a conquest to color the world with my travelling desire,
but I would much rather have the world color me.

Fallacy

The night is silent
Without echoes
Or whispers
From creeping shadows
Or restless trees.
Yet, an eerie music wafts
Carried by a gentle zephyr
Indistinct yet present
Filling me with vigor.
My heart reverberates
Harmonious traces bellow
Between vacant spaces
Of my withering anatomy
A tune only my native form understands
As this melody travels aloft
Tendons contract and react
With strength and purpose
I let loose.
The stars shimmer in toe
As I sway to then fro
Down
Then round
And up again
I stray from thought
I stray from time
Until dusk came upon dawn
And caught me in my wild reverie
Pondered whether to disturb
Pluck me from my feat
Or leave me to the sweet chaos
Of my crazed hallucination.

Latent

Slowly, the night stalked on
Stretching passed the curtains
With incisive fingers
Sharp insertions into our mind.
We cowered together
Gripped in arms
Under the last glimpse of daylight.
The darkness would come
And the terror it holds
Would find way to reality.
The air of desperation
Lingers menacingly
Mocking me
Obscured faces with lashing teeth

Taunting me.
We dare not scream
And give fear life
Dare not look away
Keeping our enemy in sight
Yet, we could not withstand
Could not endure the distress

Of this grueling contest
The torment of these meddling sins
Fighting for attention
Bent on atonement.
There are monsters out there
Even my demons have demons

Lurking in the shadows of our life
Lurking behind the mind's eye
All misdeeds are witnessed
Penance must be paid.

Bo(o)

TIME SLIPS ME. Then again, so does most events. However, I will never forget the day she arrived.

We knew each other long before we knew each other. That was not a biblical pun either. Yet, as the story of another cliché romance flick goes, my best friend was her oldest of friends. He spoke of her often but as I said at the beginning most things slip me, so, though I knew her I really didn't know her, until.

BlackBerry was the craze that brought us together, well BlackBerry and Facebook. So, just having purchased my slick new BlackBerry Curve and finally in the swing of “what's trending”, I set out on a "Pin Adding" spree. To complete this task I shamelessly resorted to Facebook which, at the time, everyone used for posting their BlackBerry Pins. This is when I came across her.

Now don't think me a stalker or anything because everyone I added to my BlackBerry were my "Friends", as Facebook referred to it. Also, why would you display your Pin if you didn't want to get added? Further to that, like I said I knew her - even though I did not know her. So, I'm not a stalker or anything like that.

With that said, I added her, first as a Friend then to my contacts. It was a bit awkward at first having to explain who I was, the fact that I'm not a stalker and how I got her Pin. However after mentioning our mutual friend, the whipping winds ceased, the raging seas settled and it was smooth sailing from then on.

We talk, or to be more accurate, we messaged constantly. Day turned to night, then, night to day. Unconcerned that we were miles apart, separated by the largest of the Oceans and 5 hours of Daylight Savings - we talked for hours sharing stories of ourselves and joking around every chance we could. The conversations made her present in every way.

We quickly created our own little memories, from my pseudo-infidelity and her reaction to it by taking the house, the kids, and the dog. Also, her having to correct me after misspelling "boo" with "bo" which then became "bo(o)". Yet my personal favorite after a month and a half or constant interaction, I typed "I l**e you bo(o)". The debate went on about that whether it was "like" or the ever infamous emotion called "love".

Then, the day arrived and finally we were going to meet again, for the first time. The day was long, dragged on and seemed unending. I kept myself busy by checking if the office clocks were functional and my watch didn't need a battery replacement until, finally, she called.

My heart skips beats only for The Walking Dead. Then however, Frank Darabont hadn't started development for AMC as yet so seeing a strange local number on my phone and hearing her voice did the trick.

She sat at the driver’s seat of her mom’s silver ’98 Mitsubishi Lancer, pulling aside me at the sidewalk. She stared at me with the cutest of smiles painted on her face. I felt like Julia Roberts and she was Richard Gere, stoking me to get into her car. Already I was crazy about her silly bravado and as Julia did in 1990, I hopped in.

Have you ever felt the feeling of anxiety and nervousness that makes your heart race like as if you were participating in a triathlon, when your mouth is dry as the Sahara and if you swallow it sticks at your throat causing the inability to speak? Well, that was me. Wait, that's an exaggeration. However, seeing her for the first time, talking to her for the first time and finally able to touch her - for the first time - was definitely something anxiety and nervousness could pay testament to.

Time slips me. Then again, so does most events. However, I will never forget the day she arrived.

Cinder

Whipped by winds
Provoking malicious intent
The fiery skies howled
Songs of the devil.
Never had I witnessed
Flames of resolve
Hell-bent on carnage.
With incited rage,
Hungry eyes
Stared through me
Torching the shell
This tired soul encompassed
Extinction level event
Consuming even shadows of my past
Erasing footprints of my future
I yield to its will
Inescapable relent
Wrath in the guise
of woman.

Drifting

Where does your mind go…
Between pauses of my prowling fingers
Slowly,
Tenderly,
Kneading mounds of your delicate skin,
Traced with the softest of lingering kisses
Teased with passion
Awaiting elation.
Between hot breaths of lust filled sighs
Under the cloak of folded eyes
You quiver
Shuddering with desire for more.
The crashing of musical crescendo
Paints the background
The perfect replica of your racing heart.
Clouded is your mind
Tormented by waves of shuffling thoughts
Of needs and wants
Of right and wrong.

Tell me,
Where does your mind go?
Are you here
Or have I lost you somewhere…?

Cravings

HER SCREAM FORCED me to reality. Between my abating unconsciousness I saw her sprint off as if she had seen a ghost. Technically, she was right but I still could not believe she left me. Then, a ways off, I heard the hungry growls like dogs defending their meal and totally understood her decision.
A hoard of the most terrifying sight I had ever seen pursued. Their loose flesh hung from their bones. The flesh at their jaws was raw and rotting.  They glared frightfully with devilish bulging eyes. Their tattered clothes were drenched in blood that I could not tell belonged to them or someone else.
Instinctively, I hobbled to my feet and followed her lead. She had already made her way to the entrance of the quay, steered off to the left and disappeared around a corner. Damn she was fast! If I was going to get away or even catch up with her then I was going to have to be fast too.
I pressed on, scared for my life as the hoard chased without end, or a moment to catch their breath. For a moment I swore I saw one of them smile. Horrific was the sight as its snarl portrayed a longing for the thrill in the chase. Eager to savor the taste of their next meal which by the pace I was moving was not going to be me.  Then it happened.
I couldn’t believe how close I was to her already as she vanished with another turn. As I rounded the corner and was about to call out to her she stumbled, then fell plum on her face. Oh crap! Get up! Get up! I heard myself grumbling as I approached her. I had to help her.
They were so close and gaining on us. I fell to her side, frantically shaking her from her daze. She looked at me and began screaming. Like what the hell? I’m trying to help you! She began kicking and screaming even louder. She struggled to break free from my hold.
Then she for reasons unknown to me she threw her arm into my mouth! Accidentally, I bit into her. I mean the squish and chopping of her flesh between my teeth sounded like music to my ears – the musical symphonic child of Bach and Beethoven.
I couldn’t help myself as I ripped into her neck. The warmth of her flesh was so succulent and tasted oh so good. Her blood trickled between my lips as I shoved more - of this woman I once loved - into my mouth. I was so hungry but she was so filling, I quickly justified my actions with a single thought - This way we would be together forever. I chewed on.
I bashed her head against the pavement. Repeatedly slamming her pretty face until finally… Jackpot! From the crater I had just delicately created, spooled this soft grey and white matter. I needed more. I wanted more. Quickly, I scooped a handful into my mouth. Sheer bliss.
By the time I realized it the hoard had arrived and already began gnawing away at my leftovers. I was stuffed plus she tasted so good, how could I not share.
She no longer screamed, no longer fought back. The look on what remained of her face expressed she was okay with what had transpired. Once she was okay with it, then so was I.
