Chrysalis

Dark skies
In the city gives way to the florescent white and amber
Running along in twos one behind the other
Reshaping our vision with these electrical suns
And daughters standing next to us like trophies we’d won
They say “There is no time like the present”
To let your name be known
To let your presence be felt
There is no time in tomorrow
If you dream it you can achieve it
Your only resistance is yourself!
To these streets we’ve roamed
Like a moth to a flame
Hand in hand
Though we knew not our names
Travelling across country,
Where these deformed metal horses did not exist
Nor houses were within a clouds reach
Concrete did not pave our streets
And any thoughts but as foundation was obsolete.
We all shared this connection
Calling us out to the open city
We had been forewarned not to enter
Yet we journeyed, nonstop,
Night and day to cross this border
Bent on dividing us
Bent on defining us
Anxiously along - hoping
Our hearts did not betray us and mend this bond broken
Danger knew our names
Yet surrender did not
We had arrived at our destination
Reminiscent of the battles we fought.
We are,
The sons and daughters of tomorrow
The creatures of the night
Nocturnal by habit
Cursed to question their thinking
Pushing the boundaries of our limits
No judgment, contempt or penalty
Free to be whom we are meant to be

Window

His hands
Running along your spine
Unlocked the secret passage to your mind
Fueling your senses
Inspiring your fantasies
Locked in his arms
Yet your mind is free
Huddled together
Bodies orchestrating a symphony
Fingers solving a mystery.
His kisses
Against your neck
Coils you into position
You’re ready for him
Laying in await for collision
A subtle gasp on entry
Raises the goosebumps on your skin
A single tear trickles down your face.
When he is entirely in...
You consume him
Slowly taking him as easy as breathing
I learn about you
With every expression I am reading
Comparing your responses to a girl I knew... before.
Toiling long enough to keep him wanting more
And as you lay there
I see your heart beating against your chest
I see his hands canvassing your breast
I see his tongue tasting your sweat
I see you reborn as a girl I never met
And though you did not see me,
We locked eyes for a second
And for a moment I was him
While you looked in my direction
Staring at me with your head pressed against your pillow
Staring at you from the blinds of your window.

Glimpse

Inspired by the 2001 American science fiction film, Vanilla Sky

What if you knew the exact moment you were going to die...?
That exact second before making the decision.
A decision that could be the end of you...
Pausing, for a moment as it hits you.
A vivid memory flashing before your eyes...
Like the sound of your car crashing
Foiled and wrecked
Ending everything that was you...
Forever more
Simply gone from existence.
What if you saw it all coming...?
Down to the last second.
Remembering the last words uttered
The memory of soft lips against yours
The smell from a warm embrace
The last face you looked upon
The last smile you received,
Joy filled periods in time we wished we could live in
Only to be stunned by the possibility of what would…
No, what could be...
What would you do?

The end comes too quickly
For the moments we hold so dare
Unable to be relived
Disappearing forever like a breath of air.
Are we being all we could be?
When time, eventually, divides us entirely
Should we subject ourselves to a Lucid Dream?
Alter our realities like the script from a movie scene
Reliving it all again
For as long as we wanted
Exactly, as we pleased
No longer servants to our memories
Filtering all adverse effects preconceived.
Yet nothing seems complete
As past afflictions unconsciously seep in
Reality and illusion compete
Paranoia begins
Holding on too tightly causing it all to crumble
Biding our time to see it all make sense
Standing in the rubble
Of the mistakes we make to our own existence
If I died in this dream, I would stop dreaming
A certain dark romance cited at the beginning
What would you do if you knew the exact moment you were going to die...?
A vivid memory flashing before your eyes...

Heisenberg

Just another hit
One more time
I promise I won’t ask again
Humbly I beg
Patiently waiting
Can you see the pulse of my vein?
I’ve drawn the leather
Strapped and ready
Give it to me,
Give it to me,
Give… it... to… me.
The walls call my name
Saying they’re my friend
I pretend not to hear them
I swear I am going insane
Even me out
You know what I need
I can think for myself
Am being held against my will
Am thirsty, that’s why I have dry pursed lips,
Am aware I lost pounds
I found a few weight loss tips
Dilated pupils?
Numb tongued speech?
Episodic shakes?
Please, don’t mind these.
I… am not, an addict!
This, this, this,
This is all an experiment
A gateway to escape reality
Am at the end of my thesis
Completing the summary
I need that tingling touch
Smooth and real slow
I will bounce back
Please be my witness
Am tired of lying awake
Tired of this dull existence
Just another hit
One more time
Then I promise I’ll quit
I can’t stay locked in this cell
Remove these chains from my wrist
